BACKGROUND ➜ It's a little sad, but Sora tells people that she was born to be pretty. Not in a conceited way, but matter of factually, as if she was talking about the black hair and brown eyes she was born with. Above everything else in Sora's life, she was always known for being pretty. My daughter is the prettiest in her class! her mother would exclaim, while other mothers gushed about how smart their children were. Beyond her pretty smile, there was nothing extraordinary about Sora's life. Her father ran a small pizza shop, her mother ran a hair salon. They lived modestly in the heart of Busan. Sora was never first in her class but she was never last either, riding on the comfortable middle. She wasn't particularly funny but she was nice, easy to get along with. She liked to dress up and play with her mother's make up at home, but at school she liked to play soccer with the boys, laughing when she fell and ripped her stockings or got dirt on her skirt.

Sora's mother began entering her in pageants when she was eight, which Sora steadily won. Little local things that turned into bigger things until Sora was a well-recognized face in the pageant circles by high school. Her father put his foot down then, and pageants were forbidden so that Sora could concentrate on school and studying, getting into a respectable college. High school was all right - Sora was more interested in friends and fashion than Literature and Mathematics, but that was normal too. Boys didn't really notice her until her second year, but by then Sora had already discovered that boys weren't nearly as attractive as girls. Its a secret she keeps well to herself and her constant turning down of proposals from male students earned her an "Ice Queen" title she could never not laugh at. Graduation came fast and Sora graduated somewhere near the high middle of her class. It's good enough for acceptance into a couple of universities her father approves of, but Sora throws a ball into his plans when she signs with a modeling agency instead.

Now twenty-three, Sora's no worldwide super model, but she's a known name in the Asian circuits and hailed as one of Korea's top models. It's a modest fame, but its more than Sora had expected, so she takes it with thankful hands. She turned to gaming just a year ago, at a suggestion from a friend to relieve some stress and to be someone other than Sora for a while - for someone who lives by showing off their face and body, it was nice to be someone else. Sword Art Online was a spur of the moment buy, as the release coincided with a small mini vacation she was taking. Why not, she thought; it would give her something to do while she relaxed at home.
